2019 Kalpela Chardonnay
Our Chardonnay comes from an old vine Chardonnay vineyard located on a benchland overlooking the Russian River. 100% fermented and sur-lie aged for 8 months in neutral French Burgundy barrels. This vintage displays a beautiful pale gold color and bright aromas of Meyer lemon, French tarragon, and tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. Uplifting flavors of navel orange, tangerine, and pink apples combine to give this Chardonnay a luscious but bright mouth-feel. Rich flavors and balanced acidity lead into a long, lingering finish. 2018 Kalpela Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from 2 old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards located on the benchlands and hillsides of Mendocino County. This vintage displays a rich brick red color and deep aromas of boysenberry jam, plum, black pepper and vanilla with hints of toasty oak. Uplifting flavors of dark chocolate, black cherry, sweet wood and a subtle note of earthiness combine to give this full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon a generous mouth-feel. 2017 Kalpela Zinfandel
Our Zinfandel wine comes from 4 old vine vineyards throughout the benchlands and hillsides of Mendocino County.Many of these vineyards are still farmed by 3rd/4th generation Italian-Americans. This vintage displays a rich dark garnet color and deep aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, and anise with hints of toasty oak. Juicy flavors of fresh plums, black cherry cola and a subtle note of toasted wood combine to give this full-bodied Zinfandel a generous mouth-feel. Kalpela Provincial Red
Our "Provincial” red wine comes from 4 different old vine vineyards scattered throughout the benchlands and hillsides of Mendocino County. Many of these vineyards are still farmed by 3rd and 4th generation Italian-Americans. This vintage displays a rich dark purple garnet color and deep aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, plum, spicy sandalwood with hints of toasty oak. Uplifting flavors of plum, black cherry cola and a subtle of earthiness combine to give this full-bodied Zinfandel a generous mouth-feel. 2019 Kalpela Moscato
Our Moscato is produced in a style that is very reminiscent of the renowned Moscato d’ Asti, very fragrant, light and sweet. This wine has rich aromas of fresh peaches, freesia and lime zest followed by similar fruity flavors, a rich sweet mouth feel and great balanced acidity. 100% of the grapes come from Potter Valley near the headwaters of the Russian River and its hot days, cold nights and 1000 foot elevation help to produce great acidity and balancing brightness.
2020 Kalpela Rosé of Carignane
This refreshing wine has lovely aromas and flavors of cranberry and strawberry and a vibrant pink hue. The sweet fruit flavors are nicely balanced by mouth-watering acidity. This Carignane rosé comes primarily from our 70 year-old Vineyard which is located in the white clay-loam benchland soils near the Calpella Township in Mendocino County. This unique soil and the excellent exposure of this vineyard have combined to produce grapes that are intensely ripe and flavorful. Wonderful as a stand-alone aperitif or pair it with seafood, pasta salad with smoked chicken and raspberries or most Pacific Rim cuisine.
2018 Kalpela Merlot
Aromas and flavors of cherries, candied berries, chocolate, and baking spices grace this Merlot. This wine has rich but soft tannins and is balanced by supple acidity. This classic Merlot comes from one of the oldest vineyards in Mendocino County. The vineyard sits in the eastern bench of Redwood Valley and has rocky, gravelly clay soils, which helps produce this Merlots concentration. The wine was aged in neutral barrels for over 2 years until bottled. This wine is a great pair with pizza topped with salami, sausage and mushrooms, steak with a red wine reduction, or stuffed roasted portobello mushrooms.
